Aspiring fashion something, bouncing through life with as much enthusiasm I can muster with the constant drain of essay writing and an empty wallet (currently costing more than its contents) weighing me down. You know the deal. I'm a 20 year-old student from Bath reading Art History at the University of Manchester, graduating (fingers, toes and eyes all very tightly crossed) in 2015. Life in the big, bad, grown-up world is looming ever closer which prompted me to FINALLY share my ramblings with the virtual world in hope that they cast some light on my life and general love of everything fashiony!
Interning in Dubai and London threw me into the glamorous, and sometimes not so glamourous, world of fashion. I was running with the industry's elite whilst pursuing a Visual Merchandising placement with one of the UAE's most prestigious companies. With brands like Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Louis Vuitton now firmly under my belt, I was feeling like a pretty high flyer for just a 19 year-old country bumpkin. What's not to love? Launch parties, networking and designer shoes all whilst getting gloriously bronzed under the Dubai sun. A much as I would love to pretend to you all that that's all it was, what's glamour without a little grit? I found this out quite literally whilst crouched in a store room rubbing God only knows what off mannequins and coming home with only a sore back and a wasted manicure.
So what now? Well, I'm not really sure, but I guess that's pretty normal. With only two years remaining till I can call myself a fully fledged graduate I will try to gain as much experience as possible; get as many eggs in my basket as it were. What I do know however is that the fashion industry better be ready for me! Watch this space!
